We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with Garfield Elementary over the past few months. With the $2,500+ we’ve raised, we’ve helped more than 50% of Garfield’s students participate in four weeks of clubs and extracurriculars, providing a safe and engaging environment. On June 12th, 2024, our team had the pleasure of visiting their amazing students and seeing RSF’s impact firsthand. Watching the joy these clubs and activities brought to the students brought us so much joy, too!
Below is a letter from Mrs. Dougherty, a school counselor at Garfield Elementary who we had the pleasure of working closely with over the past few months:
Hello,
On behalf of our entire school community, I wanted to extend a sincere thank you for your incredible efforts in funding the after-school clubs’ program. Your dedication and generosity have made a significant Impact on the lives of our students.
During the 4 weeks of clubs, we witnessed firsthand the joy and enthusiasm that these activities brought to our students. Many of them come from families who struggle to afford extracurricular activities and your provision of free clubs ensured that our students had the opportunity to participate in something meaningful after school.
Not only did the clubs provide a safe and engaging environment for our students, but they also fostered a sense of belonging among participants. The positive feedback we received from both students and parents speaks volumes about the value of your initiative.
Thanks, for recognizing the importance of providing accessible opportunities for our students to explore their interests and talents outside of the classroom. Your support has truly mad e a difference in our school community, and we are immensely grateful for your partnership.
My Best,
Mrs. Dougherty
This summer, we were thrilled to raise over $3,000 to support Dogwood Elementary School in installing document cameras in several classrooms—technology they have always wanted but never had the extra budget for. On September 3rd, 2024, we had the privilege of visiting Dogwood Elementary to personally deliver the document cameras. During our visit, we met with the school's assistant principals, tech leads, and community liaisons, whose enthusiasm and commitment to the students' success were so inspiring. We are excited about the positive impact these resources will have on the students' learning experience and look forward to continuing our partnership with Dogwood!
Below is a letter from Mr. Sigle, Dogwood Elementary's community liason (1st from the right) and Mr. Spiros, Dogwood's tech lead (2nd from the left), who we have been corresponding with over the last few months:
Dogwood is a Title 1 elementary school in Reston, VA. At Dogwood, over 95% of our families qualify for the federal government’s free and reduced price lunch program. We have wonderful students, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians. What we do not always have is enough money to provide all of the items we would like for our student learning environment. One example of that issue would be in the case of document cameras. We have some, but do not have a budget to provide one for every classroom, which we would very much like to do.
When RSF reached out to see how they might support us, we thought this quest for document cameras would be an excellent project for us to work on together. We so appreciate RSF’s support of Dogwood ES!
